through traders, and explorers, the arabs were exploring that area way before the europeans, but instead of taking over the countries and being hostile, they exchanged knowledge, traded etc, when the Christian europeans came with all there guns blazing taking over the countries which religon do you think spread well the peaceful one or the one that belonged to the people who took over there country. I am not a christian or a muslim and dont agree with either but I can see why it spread in the Malay penninsula and indonesia

I watched travel program on the other day and it metioned a war between the Arabs and the Indian people who built some temple to their god. The king (I think it was a Hindu King not sure) was beheaded by the Arabs infront his army and the won the war. If im to believe the program I guess thats how islam spread to that part of the world. I only remembered this because the temple isnt visited by the western world because when it was rediscovered back in the 1800 the guy who had hacked his way through the jungle to get to it found it covered in statues celebrating the act love and his backward christain mind was shocked so it never got acknowldege. I remember thinking its funny how history can be effected by narrow minded people. Oh also that they built another temple this time it had Islamic design incoprated into it. It was built several centuries later. India is on the way to Indonesia via the land mass.

Was Islam Spread By The Sword?
DR. ZAKIR NAIK
Monday, September 25, 2006
IT IS a common complaint among some non-Muslims that Islam would not have millions of adherents all over the world, if it had not been spread by the use of force.
The following points will make it clear, that far from being spread by the sword, it was the inherent force of truth, reason and logic that was responsible for the rapid spread of Islam

It travels like Christianity - Islamic missionaries teach the Quran in the hope of converting people. Indonesia and Malaysia have strong cultural links to the Indian suncontinent and this is where Islam spread from.

By tradesmen,
never by sword in Indonesia,
it thrived in such a far place to give people an example how true Islam is, and how logical it is being accepted by people from a far place from where it was originated

It probably came with tradesmen and sailors when they were in the area. The religion is a good religion, and all religions are easy to spread when the people are poor, uneducated, and looking for something better in life..........a reason for life.
