You obviously prefer to keep your real personality private. You also are jollier at home because you are more relaxed. You do not have "different "personalities, just different facets which you use according to the background you are in.
There is nothing wrong in keeping a low profile at work. You do not upset people, make enemies, and others probably think you are actually very deep. It is not necessarily those that are loud who make the best impression or give the best answers.

Well, you never know, maybe you do have two personalities, or maybe not.
However, your problem is very common for a lot of people. You cannot be as freely and lively as you are at work because you do not have the same amount of freedom. The pressure of scared to lose a job change people into different person. Also, one will not be as comfortable to communicate with co-worker as your own family. You might feel better when you work there longer or make some new good friends there.

good question, I thumbs up'ed you haha! I am the same way. At home I wear sweatpants and a wife beater and I am goofy and play on the floor with my cats or my nephew and I joke around while I cook and like to gab on the phone. But at work I am quiet, come in dressed up and sit there and do my job and no one here knows anything about my life. I dunno about you, but I like it that way. There is nothing wrong with being quirky and fun but every boss percieves it differently. I don't want to take a chance on mine being the one who sees a personality as unprofessional. Here I am quiet and reserved and at home or on the phone i am a loud blabbermouth with no mute button! But in previous jobs when I let people see that I felt less respected because that little wall came down and they thought they "knew" me and could speak to me differently. I guess you just live and learn whats appropriate and where and when.

Work is a competitive and sometimes pressured enviroment. Your clamming up maybe because you do not wish to be lumbered with extra work, or embarress yourself infront of your colleagues. At home you need not have these hangups as you are amoung those that care for you unconditionally.

At home you're cheerful, cause life seems happy to you, there!
At work you're dull, because you're being suppressed,in a way!
Every one sits on a particular tone level, emotional tone level, but
can display anyone fitting to a specific moment. At a funeral, f.e.
they display grief, at a marriage exhilaration, before an ogry boss
fear! It's a natural response to an incoming energy.
Got it ? Feeling OK, now ? There you go!
Ciao.....John-John.

We all do this it is acting. You for one reason or another suppress who you are to behave in some way that you perceive to be the way to act in the work world to get along, fit in or be part of the woodwork. This is a learned behaviour from some time in your past.

it may be a self confidence issue or just that your'e shy in different environments. you have to know other people who dramatically change once they finish work. in my opinion its a good sign that you work to live and not the other way round, you would have problems then :)

Work is a lot of fun for you - it's your job, it's your social life, and home is where you have to go to clean, be alone, etc.

It depends who and where we are as how we behave. For example in church you would not light up a *** and tell a dirty joke. However this would be O.K. in the pub.

It's just because they let you get away with it at home! At work you have to behave.
