The Bush administration did everything it could to provoke the North Korea government to conduct the test. The top US negotiator, Selig Harrison, and the NK negotiator, Kim Gye Gwan, had come to an agreement in which the NK would halt its nuclear program, in exchange for aid (they have a food shortage), and recognition of their sovereignty by the US. The agreement was sabotaged by VP Dick Cheney. The NK diplomat commented to his US counterpart:"....We must conclude that your government is dysfunctional..."
It is NOT the true nature of America, to be doing all of these terrible things. The current administration is in the grip of a grouping of international financial interests who aren't "greedy" per se, but the correct word is "fascist". As in Mussolini or Hitler. They desire war for its own sake; they wish to destroy the US from within. The real target of the Iraqi war, was America.
Some people in DC, and elsewhere increasingly around the nation, are sounding the alarm that the administration is planning an attack on IRAN, using tactical nuclear weapons. There is an effort to halt this attack.
Some are saying, it is time for impeachment of both the Pres. and Vice-Pres.

I just wrote something similar to this on another question. All these countries eventually will take together and bond and they will go against us. The only reason they havnt yet is because we offer them something in return not to. We could have been taken many times over. We dont have the man power to win. All we have is the finance to keep us safe. Eventually you will see that this will not matter any more as other leaders will build together and go against us.
What we need to do is stop hating and start caring about other nations and you will see that we will get true help. And i dont mean just sending in the U.N. with food and doctors or Peace corps. We need to make these other countries as good as ours. From as small as drinking water that is healthy, to health care as good as ours which is an understatement but thats another point. And all the things we have more than just placing a Mcdonalds in there country as we have done so far.
Take care

Bush has started an arms race of small countries that don't want a "regime change" .
Bush has single handedly made the world far more dangerous than ever before Most if not all of the slurs and slogans he pours out on other leaders could easily apply to him .
The pot is calling the kettle black and getting away with it nicely .
He may be an idiot he may not be - but he has done more than any other single man in the time he has had on the world stage - Unfortunately very little of it has been good except of course for the arms dealers and the oil compaines and other comodity traders .
If he is an idiot he is certainly an impressive one.

North koreans have been trying to have a dialogue with the US for a while to no avail. This was their way of being heard, which is bad for the whole world. We had a chance to do this the right way and we passed it up. US diplomacy needs some serious help from some intelligent and moderate leaders. Where the heck are our moderate and smart leaders????

Maybe we'll attack your pitiful country next.
Or, maybe we'll cut off our foreign aid to you and let you starve.
