Maybe not with certain people. It seems some people get violation notices all the time.

I believe everything is automated. A violation notice gets sent out no matter the complaint. Ask the "customer care" people why, and you get a canned answer that says something like "we can do whatever we want."
I answered a question about global warming, saying I can see some advantages, and got a violation notice which said "harassment." I was not able to get anyone at Y! to respond or explain. I object to being falsely accused, no matter the circumstances. I suspect that someone was "gaming" the system to get my answer deleted because it was not what the questioner wanted to see.

Wish I knew, If they can show me questions asked that have been similar they sure could tell you your question is in violation before it is posted. Also they need to rethink some of there questions they say violate .

Blindly delete and assess point losses.

I got cuffed with it and my answer was no different than anyone else's.

Go figure.

I imagine that if yahoo gives points for any stupid answer....

And allows points for all stupid questions to be recovered....

Then those moderators that research violations must also be on some type of awards, point count, success rate...so theres probably less emphasis on quality and more emphasis on quantity.
