i think the other people answering are wrong.
oscillation means moving around a point,
for example a spring bouncing back and forth, compressing and expanding, will eventually come to rest in the center.
anything that moves in a symmetric method around a centerpoint.
that's what i think.
a lot of things oscillate before they settle down.
