Here are the main arguments for abortion:

1. If it is illegal, people will still get abortions, except with "coat hangers in dark alleys"
Accordig to this level of thinking, rape should be legalized because people do it anyway! If we leaglize rape, at least it can be done in a safe, sanitary environment instead of a dark, damp alley.
We should legalize terrorism. Why make these guys worry about those pesky airport security guys? Let them on the plane! At least this way we can decide who they blow up!
Murder should be legal. Instead of beating you victim to death with a blunt object, you can safely put him to death like they do with inmates.

Another argument is that "it is a woman's body, she should do what she wants with the child inside it". Well, then, why stop abortion at birth? If your kid turns out to be a terror, I think you should be able to abort them, up until 5 years. This way, we can make sure we only abort the bad kids and not all of them.

Plus, if it's her body, she shouldn't have had the child in the first place! She was irresponsible, she should pay the price. Me and my girlfriend can't have sex, just on the off chance she might get pregnant.

Also, in the case of rape: Instead of murdering a baby, why not give birth? I know it's not that easy, but there are HUNDREDS of good parents out there looking to adopt a child. Give your child a chance at a good life, instead of killing them!

OOPS! The second guy added another one!

I don't want to tell people how to lead their lives!

So don't tell me I can't rape or murder people. It's my life, I can live it like I want! If you disagree go move to Russia!!!

i personally think that the ONLY time abortion should be legal [if even then] is if the the mother will without a doubt die if she carries the baby to term.

If you have a miscarriage in the first two months the doctors don't even recommend a D&C. They say nature will take care of it's self. I don't consider the day after pill or in the first two months of pregnancy an abortion. Partial birth abortion is an other thing. It is killing in a brutel way, a child that is about to be born. Think about it. No woman would want a childs head crushed and it's brains pulled out if they knew what was going on

Not only will women end up in alleys with coat hangers, but a lot of men will be with them to help.
For the moment, abortion is legal and rape is not. Rape is a violent crime according to the law.
Your brain has already reached its decision and it'll not be changed. If you don't believe me, look at the absurd crimes you're comparing abortion with.
The reason 'for' abortion are really too numerous to list, but to list a few. 1) Unwanted children end up being abused and neglected.
2) Unwanted children end up being tossed from foster home to foster home and who knows what kind of mental damage that does.
3) Unwanted children are forced into the streets to become some ones 'play mate'... shall we call them?
So why bring an unwanted child into a world that will only abuse them more?
"It's a woman's body" and "abort at 5 years old" makes absolutely NO sense what so ever. You're talking a fetus as compared to a born 5 year old. I think what your trying to say if Infanticide, which is the killing of born children to control population under stressful circumstances. Infanticide and Abortion are two totally separate things.

In my opinion both of these arguments sort of miss the point. There are no 'pro-abortion' people. Nobody thinks abortions are good. The question is whether turning people who have them done into criminals is the right approach.

I'd like to see us all focus on trying to eliminate abortions through elimining the unwanted pregnancies. Make abortions unnecessary. Approach it as a public health issue rather than ans a criminal one. It won't eliminate all abortions, but I think if all the energy and money spent arguing about the legality were spent on a vigorous public health approach, we could do a lot.

And then, when we miss one and someone has an abortion, we should not react with judgment and anger, but with sorrow for the loss.

Why don't you give all your sperms a chance to become children, then? They too, have the potential. Aborting the fetus, while physically unpleasant, is the same as not having a baby. We can all be accused of not bringing tens of babies into existence, and I am seriously opposed making it illegal to decide not to have one particular child.

All of the potential babies you could've had with your girl friend would've been unique and beautiful in themselves. The fact is, a fetus that hasn't developed too much, doesn't mind if it lives or dies, yet. And neither does the fetuses that are yet brought to existence.

The debate around this is insane, and only has religious grounds- but then again, I don't see the church allowing abortion, so what's the problem? You don't have to do it if it goes against your beliefs.

HMMM, not a topic with an easy answer. Personally, legalizing abortion is like giving women the right to be completely reckless with their sexual situations, because the law could say that you can kill off any innocent lives that may be as a result. If abortion law is activated, then it could open doors for other 'legalized killing' situations, and people like Jack Kavorkian can be left alone to do his thing - mercy killings! Lord knows EVERYONE I know could have an excuse for a mercy killing! LOL

Taking away an unborn child (up to a certain age) IS NOT murder! Its the same as you remove some skin or a nail! Free Abort (up to a certain age of the foster) should be alouded in the human rights! Its a crime to dont let a woman that have been raped (for example) an abort! And its definetly a crime to kill doktors that are doing aborts! If there is something about the great country of america and its inhabitants that realy makes me sick its their reachion on the abort question! Free abort to all! Now! Johan

Dead babies are big money.
People and organizations are getting rich from killing babies.
Now, Planned Parenthood, Democrat Party, and Abortion Mills rack in the money.
Pro-Abortion groups give the Democrats millions each election.
If you want to make a lot of money, Abortion is a good field to go into.

You seem to think it's easy for women to make the choice to abort a child. Now I'm not a woman so I can't speak for them and neither are you.But I''m smart enough not to judge them for the decision they made or have to make. When you have to walk in their shoes then you have the right to judge.
As far as there being so many people wanting to adopt. My Uncle wanted to adopt and he was on a list for five yrs! Do you really think each and every child gets adopted??
Learn some facts before you judge someone!!

Unwanted, abandoned, ill-cared kids are a burden to society. Better to get rid of a 'small' problem than have a 'mountain' of a problem. Besides, it's a woman's right to choose.

If you had a world class piano player attached to your body simply for the fact that you are the only thing that can keep him alive, wipe his arst, feed him, take him to the john, what would you do?

I believe that abortion is murder and am therefore totally opposed to it, whatever the circumstances. Contraceptives are freely available without stigma these days, so there is really no excuse for abortion. There are also many women who can't have children and who would willingly adopt an 'unwanted' baby.
