Get a squirrel trap and put some of the nuts in it. The squirrels will come in to the trap for the nuts and will be caught. Then take them out into the country and let them go.

Is that a bad thing? Do you know there are children, adults too, who have never seen a real live squirrel?
You are fortunate not to be living in a concrete jungle and that you HAVE wild critters around you.
Enjoy them, maybe even put some peanuts out yourself and enjoy wathing them come to the feeder - they might even take your's back to the neighbours and bury them there!!

Dried Chillies or hot chilli powder. Spread them around and it stops the squirrels burying the nuts in your garden and will go else where.

They do that in my garden as well, hiding all the nuts in the grass. I don't seem to mind though, but you could try putting a small scare crow like figure on the grass and they will get scared of it, either that or run after them lol.

The following is from a garden program on PBS.
BLACK PEPPER, either shake it around your garden or mix it with water and spray. Liquid hot sauce with water sprayed on would probably work also.
When they breath in the hot pepper mix it is an irritant and they are supposed to stay away.

Preditor Urine. You can buy a variety of preditor urine sprays from you local feed store. Its in a spray bottle, you spray it on the fence and tree trunks. Not a pet supply store but a feed store. Ask them which ones work for squirrels native in your area, they should know.

Borrow someone's dog for a weekend (with food, water, shelter and some love of course). Once the dog's presence is known and the territory is marked, the problem should be solved at least for a while!
