I had a baby almost 5 months ago & I breastfed her for 4 months. I was told by my doctor that I would proberly not get my period untill I stopped Breastfeeding. I still do not have my period, the problem I think I may be pregnant, I have all the symptons from my last pregnancy but when I took a test it said I was not pregnant. If I have not had a period for 13months will a pregnancy test be able to detect a pregnancy?

Yes, the test will still be able to detect the HCG hormone. If you just recently stopped Breastfeeding, your period may not start back up for a few months. Your body has to go through the changes to get back to normal and it could be awhile. I doubt you are pregnant but if you tested, and it was negative, don't worry. At your next checkup with your Dr, let them know this concern and see what they say. Good luck and Congrats on the baby!

I didn't get my period until around 5 months after I had my baby.
Do you think you have symptoms of pregnancy?

Are you still breastfeeding? Breastfeeding makes it difficult to get your period again. 5 months is really soon. Wait a couple weeks then do another test, or just go to the doctor and get tested there.

A test should be able to detect the hCG in your urine. If you are having pregnancy symptoms, why not get a test at your doctor's office to be sure? A blood test will tell you for sure. Good luck.

Yes, there will still be the HCG horemone. You better go to your doctor to see if you are pregnant. If you are your body is not having allot of time to recover from the other pregnancy.

With your hormones still recovering from your recent pregnancy a blood test would probably be your best bet. Call your gyn and they can prob do it for you in their office.

Your symptoms sound like you need to go to the gyne. She or he will be better equipped to answer you question. Things have all but stopped up in you, you need a release. Check it out!
