I was always taught to take the higher road. I have not always done that, but sure tried to. I once had to turn in a fellow for stealing from a company. It broke my heart, but it was morally correct. I do believe in gray areas, but grew up believing everything was black and white. I have lived by my moral values all my life and feel very blessed that I did. Only once did I let what others say was the right thing when in my heart I knew it wasn't and went with it, making them happy and me very unhappy. (more than once--but only once that really changed my life to this day) I believe if we are true to ourselves, based upon moral teachings, then we can't go wrong. Of course, I believe in the 10 Commandments. That makes life easy. I also believe that anything less than the truth is a lie. I have pondered this question all of my life. Now that I am old, I believe this to be the true definition of a lie. Withholding information is a lie to me. I don't mean telling secrets, but when someone comes to someone to talk and the person who is guiding them knows more about the subject than the one telling their heart and they withhold information that could help the needy one........they lied. I am convinced of this after 60 years of trying to decide.

I was asked by an employer to basically lie about a product. My morals told me it was wrong but I needed the job very badly so I found another way th phrase the explanation of the product so that it was truthful but did not displease my boss.
Working for a huge corp bites in that I has to compromise my values just to feed my family.

I had a friend in sixth grade who was just friends with me because i was the only bright student in the class. she used advantange of me by taking my help on homework and other stuff of school like from math preparations to english tests, and i knew that she was just being selfish. she was even jelous when i got most marks in a math test. but, I never tryed to be like she was with her. I always helped her as I would do to any other friend. My parents never taught me to be selfish towards anyone, nor did my selfconcious allowed me to be selfish. but, I've growned up now take any matter straight to the point by talking about my difficuties.

When I was young I lived on the streets. There was an old man who used to go around collecting cans. I did that too. But I helped him because he was old and I thought he deserved respect even if we were both very poor.
