The difference is that the smokers are not only slowly killing themselves but everyone around them.
I don't think it's right to insult anyone. People shouldn't constantly insult smokers, but then again smokers shouldn't constantly insult non-smokers by smoking next to them either.

Jeez, you sound like my mum! You have the right to say what you like. Just don't complain when you get hit by that food service tray.
FYI, not all obese people are that way because of what they eat or how much they eat.
I've got relatives who were rowdy drunks, smoked like chimneys, ate the worst kind of diet and still lived to be 90 some odd years.
Cheers!

I'm a smoker, I'm careful of where I smoke so I don't bother anyone. I'm not "Obese" but if they want a second portion of cake or whatever, that's fine. It's their life, their bodies, and it's a good way of avoiding getting one of their "Obese" fists in your face.

IT IS NEW TO SMOKERS TO BE TOLD NOT TO SMOKE AND THEREFORE, MOST DON'T THINK OF HOW THEY TELL OTHERS ABOUT IT.
BUT FAT PEOPLE [I CAN SAY IT BECAUSE I AM FAT/OBESE/LARGE AND LOVELY, YEAH WHATEVER] HAVE BEEN THE BUTT OF JOKES, AN OUTCAST, AND YES I KNOW THAT I NEED TO BE ON A DIET AND EXERCISE. BUT BEFORE I FOUND OUT I HAD FIBROMYALGIA AND SLOWED DOWN, I COULD KEEP UP WITH THOSE THAT WHERE "NORMAL" SIZE. I RAN CIRCLES AROUND THEM AT WORK. I EAT LESS THAN ANYONE ELSE IN MY HOUSEHOLD AND THEY ARE ALL THIN. TALKING ABOUT MY CHILDREN HERE. AND THEY EAT HEALTHY AS WE DON'T DO SWEETS.
I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT SOCIETY FEEL AKWARD TELLING US HOW TO LIVE OR EAT. I HEAR IT EVERYDAY.
NOW MY WEIGHT DOESN'T EFFECT OTHERS DIRECTLY. HOWEVER MY MOM DIED OF LUNG CANCER. HER MOM DIED OF LUNG CANCER. MY GRANDMA'S SISTERS ALL DIED OF LUNG CANCER. NON WERE OVERWEIGHT.

yes, someting should be done about both, but the smokers have the edge, as, they inflict thier second hand smoke and smell, on other people too, where as the obese dont shove cakes in your mouth.

Because calling them fat would hurt their feelings, its not wrong if you tell them in a nice manner rather then something like "yo fatty lay of the god damn cake"

Its never acceptable to tell other people what to do, smoking, drinking, or over eating. Didn't your mother teach you how to behave in public? MYOB.
