Are you, like me, fed up with your postal service.

I work in the West End (London) and we don't seem to receive our post until 1pm these days.

Does anyone know what is happening?

I also saw on GMTV this morning that the Post Office is going to be investigated because of the unusual times that they are picking up post. e.g. Instead of picking up at 8:30am they pick it up at 3:30pm

Tell me what you thinkof this annoyance?

The post service is a disgrace. For years my post was delivered by the same man, always at around 7.15, great.
Now, it never comes before noon, some days not at all, even though am expecting some, and some fridays after 4.30 !
I only live 500 yds. from sorting depot.
The bosses should be held to account and not payed bonuses. Also, I don't want JUNK mail !

the postal service is now a business .and has to work at a profit .unfortunately royal mail new this for a long time and its only the last 4 years they realized .so they have to change every thing all at once which has been a night mare .amalgamating office bringing in machines .having to make savings having off post telling them to change things And still been able to maintain collection to deliver time table. Its not been easy and there still a long way to go .so the early morning delivery you will start to see change they will start to get later .but on a plus side it should improve the delivery speck ie you post on Monday it should get there by Tuesday.
Having said all that i am worried that some saving have gone to far and the workers are having more and more pressures place on them .
so when you complain give a little thought to the fact the postmen don't like it either .
cant say much more i could get the sack

Please also note not all post is delivered by us we have strict guidelines on not to leave packets on door steps.there are 50 + other couriers out there taking up the delivery sector also letters

We're in the centre of London, and our local sorting office is literally within pissing distance (yes it is - over the back of the house!) yet sometimes our combined first and second post doesn't get delivered until 5.15pm, although it's usually more like 12.30 - and they've just put the prices up!
As for gmtv this morning, I thought they were on about the junk mail problem to which there's an easy answer - just send it back marked "Not wanted" - and now they have to pay x4 the cost if they don't enclose an SAE for reply, so it'll soon stop!!!

Judging from the replies, I believe I can explain the late deliveries.

The Postal Service(s) are no different than all other businesses caught in the downsizing going on, with jobs being eliminated (mostly clerical), and many mail carriers getting injured or heading for retirement.

The new people coming in are not being trained fully and many don't have the "old work ethic".

It's common to have mail going out as late as the evening.

Also, those who deliver not wearing uniforms are being paid less, and thus will most likely make more errors.

Delivering mail correctly and doing the job thoroughly is something that should be respected when you see it.

Your regular mail person who shows attention to detail is something to be valued.

do not furnish to business enterprise districts on Saturday. perhaps in new york there are predominately Jewish zip codes that doesn't omit the mail on Saturdays the two. In Detroit is there a predominantly Muslim community that ought to do with out Friday delivery? they should shrink decrease back to 5 days a week, yet tailor the non delivery day to the community, that way, there'll be extra performance. additionally if the furnish days have been staggered, postal autos ought to nevertheless be used 6 days a week extremely than only 5 so they does not ought to purchase as many which might shop $ in the long-term too. I do have Netflix so this makes Netflix much less helpful to me, additionally I acquire the Economist mag and Bloomberg BusinessWeek mag, the two arrive on Saturday now, will they pump out the themes quicker for fri. delivery or will I be waiting till Monday?

the wonder post man has fallen ill and hence the delivery time is no longer as fast as before as his super abilities have been affected by the deadly postmaninosis disease that paralysis the brain, spinal cord and the internal intestine. Other side effects include awful smell of post and packaging.
the cure consists the precious uganious stone and hence the increase in postal rates. We are also urging all religious people to pray for the wonder post man.

the royal mail.

The post has become really dreadfull of late. Recently the postman delivered a whole batch of dvd's to the wrong house that were destined for me. Although did he post them at the wrong address (around the corner somewhere)? No he just put them on the doorstep and walked off... If the person hadn't of been so honest I would never have received the missing packages.

The post is delivered to my house after 1 pm, and in the run up to Christmas it has been gone 5pm.

The nearest Collection Point/Post Box is emptied at 4pm on alternate days, when it's supposed to be emptied EVERY day at 9am. I have missed out on several jobs because of this.

The Royal Mail have made large losses in recent times and they have been reorganising themselves for some time now. The postal service we have all come to depend on has gone and we have to accept that. They are also preparing themselves for competition.

There are now fewer pickups and deliveries take longer in many areas.
