Thanks for that, avian - were you talking about surviving Polish ex-servicemen from that war that ended over 60 years ago? You were, weren't you!
Hi chris g - I am going to assume firstly that you mean the county of Northamptonshire, rather than just the town of Northampton, and secondly that it would help if you could contact Polish social and cultural organisations. If I am wrong, then some of the information will be superfluous, sorry. The 2001 Census revealed that already there were 574 Poles living in the county of Northamptonshire. This will have shot up recently.
Town halls and libraries are not all that good for providing advice, some officers can be unhelpful, and you may get transferred from phone to phone (I work in local government, so I know how it is). Local cultural associations tend to form independently of the the outreach services of the council, and non-governmental contacts will get you better advice, and given gladly.
You may find it useful to contact a national organisation, which may know of organisations established in Northamptonshire. Here is one:-
The Polish Cultural Association 238-246 King Street, Hammersmith, London W6 0RF (020 8741 1940) Website: http://www.posk.org/
Alternatively contact a local umbrella organisation for any details. Here are two:-
The Council for Ethnic Minority Communities (Northampton), Northampton College, Lower Mounts, Northampton NN1 3LY
(01604 736206) Contact Name: Ruzina Khanom
Email: enquiries@cemcnorthants.org.uk
Website: http://www.cemcnorthants.org.uk
Northamptonshire Race Equality Council, Victoria Centre, Palk Road, Wellingborough, NN8 1HT (01933 278000)
E-mail info@northamptonshirerec.org.uk
Website: http://www.wellingboroughrec.org.uk/index.asp
In the event of these lines of enquiry being unfruitful these three contacts will be closer to the Polish community, although not necessarily closer to any organisations.
1. The Polish Club, 33 Winstanley Road, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire NN8 1JD (01933 222414)
2. SS Stanislaus and Lawrence Catholic Church (aka the Polish Church), Flat 2, St Lawrence House, Duke Street, Northampton
NN1 3BA (01604 631623) Parish Priest: Rev Bogdan Cisek
3. St Brendan's Catholic Church, Beanfield Avenue, Corby, Northamptonshire NN18 0AZ (01536 202879) Has Polish Mass organised by Father Jerzy Tyc (aka Father George)

Telephone Northampton Town Hall, or Northampton Main Library, and ask them to give you the contact number for the local Polish Society - there's bound to be one. Failing that, the town's RC priest ought to know where the Polish community hang out since most are of his faith. And you could also try the local branch of the British Legion since a lot of former Polish servicemen join that organisation.

I am sure there is a POLISH CLUB in Northampton, I should think you would locate it via the Tourist Centre or the local library.
