Depends what sort of job you are after, and did you go to prison / anyone die / or just lose your licence. CRB checks show up drink driving convictions.
If you are after a job in security, they might take a dim view of it.
Best thing is to be up front at interview, if you think it is relevent to the job and stress that it was a one off etc. If they never need to know, then keep to yourself!

It will affect you applying for jobs. You have to declare it when you apply for a new job. Do not lie admit you were in the wrong and say you have learnt from the experience. This is damage control. If they find out wile you are employed even years down the line you could lose everything. It's probably not a good Idea to lead with this information but If they know from the start then they can't dig it out and use it to sack you.

I know you said it's not a drivign job. But do you need to be able to drive for any aspect of the job? If you don't need to be able to drive to do your job etc. (not expected to attend meetings all over the place/ irregular hours) I think you should be OK. Do make sure that during yoru interview you don't come accross as a die hard drinker though, they may wonder if your conviction is the start of other problems (i.e. Constantly hungover? ).

some jobs require you to sign a from stating you do not have any criminal convictions or have any coming up. in the case of these jobs they will effect your job application, otherwise how are the potential drivers meant to know about it.
however i do believe it should effect you job application because this tells alot about the person that you are, particularly in jobs with children, driving, or operation of machinary for instance

It may depend on whether the job you are applying for requires a CRB check. If yes, best to disclose before the check, so they can see you are an honest person who made a mistake.

Yes it could do. Any conviction is put onto your criminal record. If the job requires you to have no criminal record then the employer may check with the police.
