Get the extremely reliable free (unlimited) AVG Anti Virus from www.download.com

Consider dowloading Spybot Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware SE Personal and SpywareBlaster as well (all from download.com), they are very reliable.

Delete all cookies from your machine.

Mark all unwanted messages on Yahoo Mail with a
SPAM tag.

Install Norton Utilities.

Install Ad-Aware Software

Install SpyBot "Search and
Destroy" Software to eliminate any
Spy software that has gotten into
your system.

Keep these utilities updated and run them often.

Make sure you have an antivirus and firewall installed in your computer. Check with your Internet Service Provider to see if they provide any of this for free(I know Comcast and AOL does)

Also you should download (for FREE) Spybot Search and Destroy
(http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html )
and
Ad-Aware SE Personal (http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3003-8022_4-10399602.html?tag=tab_rev)

These will help you with any spyware and keyloggers your computer might have.

Another site you might want to take a look at is www.pcpitstop.com. At this site you can do a full test of your computer. It also has a antivirus scan in which you can run for free. Amongst other tests.

** You might want to uninstall messenger and reinstall it. If you don't want to use the newest version "BETA" (which i hear isn't that good) you can go to this website and download one of the older versions,
www.oldversion.com.

Make sure you run Windows Update :
http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us
Set this so it will automatically update when your computer is running.

Delete all history, cookies, and all files. To do this open internet explorer........Click Tools....Internet Options...clear history(keep set at 0 days), delete files, delete cookies.

Good Luck

Run your virus checker with an up-to-date virus file. IT might be adware rather than a virus, so scan the computer with a good anti-adware program as well.

Its not a virus but a spyware. You can search for any antispyware and clean your system.
