He sent it to me today- i don't know how to respond to it. We met a few months ago and i'm seeing him casually. He's lovely but i have't quite fallen for him yet- anywhere ready away:

i think of you when i'm taking my steps
i think of you with every drop of water sprinkling under the shower, with every breath, with every eye blink.
i think of you all day- it makes it strenuous to think...
of anything apart from you

I thought it was very arty and i didn't know he could be so deep- is this deep or am i reading too much into it?

i thought it was lovely when i read the text but i wouldn't have expected it from him.

Thanks all you people for your comments- i'll respond with a cheesy poem back. Is this the right thing to do? I'll do it- let's see if my litererary skills add up :)

Ah, Treefrog, you old cynic!

"Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake
I'll be watching you."

Unlike Sting, your man seems to be no stalker/psychopath, but smitten.

How to respond? How do you feel? Take it at face value, tell him how it felt for you to read it. Then listen to his response.

Yes, it is a poem. It is neither deep nor original, though. I'd say it took him two minutes to write it. On the other hand, the fact that he took the trouble to write anything shows he genuinely cares at least a little, right? Ask him to write in rhyme next time. He should sweat it out :-)

It's not bad, its only deep if he meant it for you. If he is a bit of a wordsmith he might just be showing you the things he likes to do.

Personally I think its deep and a way of pushing things along a bit faster. He can hide behind it if you reject him and make excuses.

Be gentle with him, he obviously thinks a lot.

A love poem?..A love ballad?..deep NUP!...Cheap yeap.. there is no dramatic tension, the subject could be his mum, for it to be poetry it needs greater description of the anguish of this separated love...a bit of personification could help along with some pretend godless worship..

His love was the author of these wonderful words. Yes, this is a poem of love.

it could easily be considered a poem, a love letter, or a confession.
as you do not appear to be in the same place, i would consider it his way of confessing his honest feelings.
if your feelings forr him were still maturing, i would consider it a love letter meant to fuel your blossoming love.
if you actually felt the same way you would recognize it as a poem without hesitation. by the way , he fogot the title---
SMITTEN
