Your favorite pair of jeans isn't the only thing that will feel more snug as your waistline expands. "If your belly ring begins to feel tight, take it out or replace it with a more comfortable piece of jewelry," says Joey Wyman, a former body piercer and mother of a 5-month-old. Swap your ring for a piece of clean fishing line or Teflon body jewelry (known as PTFE, or polytetrafluorethylene), which flexes with your growing belly. Wyman points out that you probably won't need to take this precaution if your piercing has been in for at least three to four years because it's not likely that the hole will close.
If you're comfortable keeping your piercing in throughout your pregnancy and your healthcare provider approves, then go for it. The chances of it interfering with the actual birth are slim. "We can always work around a belly ring," says Leslie Kardos, an ob-gyn at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco and mother of two, who also happens to have her belly pierced. "In fact, I left mine in for the birth of my second child without a problem," she says.
The incision used during most c-sections runs along the bikini line and doesn't interfere with the belly button. And if for some reason a belly ring ends up posing a problem during the birth, it can easily be removed.

The problem with belly bars and being pregnant is that when your tummy stretches it can stretch the piercing and leave you with an ugly scar. I took mine out when I was 5 months pregnant and I didn't get a scar thankfully. But I didn't have a bump until I was 7 months so it's different for everyone. I'd advise you to take it out when you notice your bump coming along.

You could leave it in for a while and if you still want to keep the piercing there are pregnancy belly rings out there just search them up online. They are longer so you would be able to change to that when the time comes that you need to.

A friend of mine, thought about this a little too late, and ended up having to cut the ring to get it out.
Not really a big deal, but kinda funny taking bolt cutters to a pregnant girls belly....

I took mine out right away in fear of having an ugly scar or the hole being stretched out. It may be just me, but I still ended up with a little mark. Personally, I would leave it in as long as the doctor says its ok. I took mine out and I don't think the results were any better than if I would have left it in. Either way, your belly is going to have stretch marks.

I didn't take mine out at all, and have no scarring and had no discomfort. I also only gained 20 pounds on a 5'9" frame, though and my belly button never "popped". I got two sretch marks an inch long in the last month of pregnancy, but they were nowhere near my belly button.
The doc did want to make sure I (or someone else)could take it out quickly in case of an emergency c-section, though.

I took mine out at 10 weeks because I noticed that the whole was getting stretched out sideways. The next morning I had a doctor's appt and he said it was a good thing I did because if you leave it in it will leave a huge stretch mark across your stomach by the end of your pregnancy. (His exact words were "railroad track across your stomach.") Depending on how long you've had it pierced it might stay open through the pregnancy and you can put it back in after. I just figured it wasn't going to look very cute stretched out like that so I might as well take it out now!

You don't have to take it out yet. But you will want to as the pregnancy progresses, but there is another option. They make belly button rings for pregnancy. They are longer and more flexible.Check out the sight bellow, or just google belly button pregnancy rings. Good Luck!

No need to. There's no medical reasoning to remove a ring, as it causes no harm to baby. You might want to take it out in the 3rd trimester, if it bothers you then.
