Why don't you consider walking or using publictransit or a combination of the two? Automobiles are a terribly inefficient way of transporting human beings. They are destructive to the environment and, of course, very dangerous to the public, especially pedestrians.
Before you throw a lot of money away on another dumb old car, look into the public transit possibilities in your area, as well as healthy routes for walking. Think of all of the money that you will save when you don't have to by gas, insurance, oil, maintenance, parking, license, tires, registration, etc. Good luck!!
