We had 2 leopard gecko's they were very easy to care for. The worst part was going to the pet store to buy crickets. They were a lot of fun to watch and the kids loved them. Much easier to take care of then a bowl full of goldfish!

It depends on the type of gecko. Be aware that most geckos are not hands on pets, with the possible exception of leopards and cresteds (which probably aren't thrilled but will tolerate some handling). Also, do NOT get a tokay gecko for a child. They're extremely beautiful lizards, but they are highly aggressive and downright mean. They can inflict a nasty bite for an animal that grows to between 12 and 14 inches...

Leopard geckos are the easiest to care for by far they require 2 good sized hides / caves and sand to be replaced every few months and mine eats about 6 crickets every 2 days and requires a red light and a dimmer is optional but i preffered one and they need a 10 gallon tank for one gecko but I keep mine in a 30 gallon in case I get another. I also have a 700 gallon in my sitting room which houses 80 geckos. enjoy your gecko!

It depends on the species of gecko. The lepard gecko needs a desert type environment where a house gecko needs a more humid enviornment. You are going to have to do research on which species you want. Go to your local pet store not a chain store such as pet smart, and check out which gecko's they have and read up on many different species you are interested in.

My 10 year old has 3 of them. They need a special light bulb, a bag of sand every couple of months, about 10 crickets a week, keep the water full, and have a scooper to scoop the poop out of the sand.

They are pretty low maintenence and they are kind of fun. Their tails come off sometimes, which is a little gross, but they grow back.
