Yo - i have an IPOD 40 GB 4th gen. actually i have had three and they have all failed but the warranty only lasts for 1 year from the purchase of the first one. Apple replaced it twice. All had failed hard drives. Gonna buy a replacement Hard drive off EBAY when i get round to it. But how come Apple gets away with this. Shouldnt they have had a product recall? I wonder how many IPODS went wrong this way. Would never buy an IPOD again, not even a colour one as other companies make a better product and cheaper!

paulrb8 -the hardrive failed on all of my ipods with the sad ipod icon appearing. was a physical failure not a battery problem. Itunes/Windows could therefore not access/ Apple replaced so there was obviously a problem. Warranty should run again on replacement IPOD IMO

approximately 1 in 10 of nanos are returned within the first year due to faults! apple get away with alot of it because they design the battery to last just over a year, so its just outside warranty when it dies completely! the battery is irreplaceable so you basically have to buy a new ipod. alot of people at the moment are hammering apple for this 'daylight robbery' saying when they buy an ipod they want it to last 3 years not 18 months

circulate to purpose, wall-mart, ceremony-help, radio shack, etc. go searching. as long using fact the impedance is a similar for the iPod, in all possibility sixteen or 32 some thing like this is laid out in ohms. it appears like this image ?. look for Phillips form they are remarkable. in many cases extra valuable than Sony, yet they have stable high quality sound. Koss is yet another form this is o.ok. get a pair that asserts 25Hz - approximately 25KHz. this is frequency reaction. human beings hear from approximately 20 hertz, this is cases/2d to twenty thousand hertz. maximum headphones / ear buds do not circulate down that low yet can circulate larger, each and every each and every now and then as much as 25KHz that's previous listening to variety, yet to me sound lots extra valuable than cones that circulate purely to 18KHz according to say. have faith me, your iPod will look as though a sparkling potential stereo with Phillips cones, you will hear issues like in no way formerly. stable success. ^:)

if people learnt the battery discharge/re-charge process properly, then they would have no problems.. i have had my 20GB 4Th gen for 2 years and its great.. battery lasts for ages and its been no trouble...
Remembering to virus scan the ipod regularly helps with freezing up/breakdowns etc....

you must have had a virus on there.. and yes it does happen.. there has been a virus specially made for ipods..... regards!

they should do a recall but they figure if the keep coming out with new ipod people will just buy the newer verison and not worry about the old one.

Totally agree with you. I'm on my third Ipod and I'm having problems again so I need to restore it which means wiping off all my songs! (I have a back up but it's still annoying).
