I am not recommending Windows Vista. I would wait until it has been out for 6 months or so, and probably only suggest that people get it on a totally new computer. It would probably be a good idea to NOT upgrade to it for these reasons.

- needs a faster machine like a core duo 2
- does not recognize old hardware
- needs lots of RAM

So an old computer would be better off with the system that came with it.

When Windows XP first came out, many computers had the minimum 128MB. Today, that is clearly not enough RAM. Today, I recommend that people with Windows XP expand their RAM to 512MB. So I would guess that Windows Visita will require 2GB of RAM within 4 years.

First of all you must know that Windows Vista requires a minimum of 1 GB RAM & not 512 MB RAM & a 40 GB hardisk space. And for the second, it's your choice whether you want to go for Windows Vista or not. Do as you please. A word of advice-
there are many programs which don't run in Windows Vista but will run in previous versions like Windows XP or 2000.
Plus I'm quite sure you must be knowing that Microsoft has developed a new way to tackle piracy. It will be launching prepaid cards this Diwali to check piracy as it has been very successful in Brazil. If someone tries to copy it, the computer goes to self destruct mode.

you have heard incorrect. Vista demands 1GB to run. you would be no longer able to place in Vista on a 256MB pc. you're fortunate you're working XP on 256, it demands 512. pass examine the microsoft cyber web website on Vista standards. digital memory is likewise stated as the internet site record or substitute record and it makes use of your complicated force.

Most new PCs these days come with that amount, so MS figures why not include lots of eye candy in Vista that will require 512?

I'm not jumping on board with Vista for a while.
