We may not be able to change the course of destiny, but can definitely work towards lessening its effect on us.
When a storm crosses over the tender grass leaf bends quietly, and allows the storm to pass over it, and then stands up after. The tall trees , refusing to bend, get uprooted ! That is the example.

I believe there are certain things that are preordained, but other things we can change, whether those small changes would make a difference to our ultimate destiny, I dont think so.
You often hear of people meeting and marrying someone they were at school with years ago but never met then. Or having worked together but never met then meeting years later.
Or bumping into someone at an international airport only because u missed the flight, then falling in love.
It doesnt matter what u do, some things are just mapped out in the stars.
having said that, if ur struggling with drug or alcohol problems then that is somethign u do have control over.

Challenge your destiny? Do you know , in advance , your destiny? Only then you acn challenge.Or else challenging your destiny will amount ONLY to shadow boxing . You will be boxing for ever.
After a certain event , good or bad , ( though generally bad) , you attribute the outcome to destiny for want of any other explanation. . This happens AFTER your challenge. When you challenge you hope you will win or succeed in what you are doing. But when it turns otherwise you tend to accept it philosophically. This , you call it destiny.
destiny is a great leveller and makes you accept things

I don't know that you would be fighting your destiny, isn't that in a way a kind of challenge? I believe that a person's destiny is made up of the choices we make in every thing we do, the paths we choose to take, even down to the smallest things. The choices we make in life determine our destiny to a certain extent, but ultimately, the end result is in God's hands.

Destiny can always be changed. It is falsehood to assume that it cannot be changed. Everyone of us endowed with Free Will but it requires tremendous perseverance rather than fighting with it. History shows that how destiny was changed by men who are now known as super heroes. To quote a few examples: Angulimala who was a murder and plunderer during the time of Gautama the Buddha who changed dramatically his destiny and became a monk. Another example is the great yogi of Tibet -- Milarepa. Hence to contend that destiny cannot be changed is false, yes it can be changed but requires intense yogic sadhana.

I believe we are sent down a path created by our own previous decision making. I think we unconsciously map out our own destiny, by the choices we make in every day life. We can deal with it or fight it, but I think if a person fights their destiny they will do nothing in life but go in circles.
