I always find "why do you enjoy working at River Island" is a safe bet - it's unlikely to have been covered already, so you can throw it in without thinking, and it puts a bit of pressure on the interviewer to talk, so you get a break.

Something about career progression will also show your interested and committed to stick around for a while, not sure how relevant it is for a part time job though.

Look on their website and see if you can find anything about them that particularly interests you, and you can comment on.. e/g I like the way you do this, I would be really interested in learning more/ I've worked in a similar way and found it very productive, or smtg, ask about potential for career development if you're interested in sticking around; management training progs or smtg must be on offer, ask if they have any training you'ld be able to do, maybe ask about any social events they arrange- shows you're interested in being a cohesive part of the team, even if you are only full time, maybe about potential for more shifts if you want them esp over Xmas- would be good if you looked keen to take on work if someone was sick etc,
oh, and how much discount you'll get!

Here are a few that will really impress them.

1) How many ciggy breaks can I have per day?
2) How strict are you about staff theft?
3) Am I entitled to sick pay?
4) I'm sometimes late out of bed, will this be a problem?
5) I've heard that River Island are going bust, is this true?
6) I think the River Island image is a bit tacky, can I make a few suggestions about how we can make it a bit more classy?

These are but a few suggestions that will really ensure that you get that job.
Best of luck.

Is there any opportunity for career development?
is there any opportunity to look into the buying aspect?

Your best bet is to go to the web site, and read up about RI. Then show your knowledge - they will like the fact you were keen enough to find out about them! Look up their turnover or how long that branch has been open.
