Oh, you lucky person. It's such a great place. It depends on where you'll be--in Prague, almost everyone speaks English. There are quite a few Americans who live there, actually. They have the best beer (pivo) in the world, and the Czechs are a lovely bunch of people. Of course, they won't appear as friendly up front as Americans, but once you get to know them, they are very hospitable. Anyway, if you aren't going to be in Prague, you should definitely visit it. And if you are, make sure to see other parts of the country. Like Southern Bohemia--go to Cesky Krumlov, it's like a fairy-tale city. And Moravia is really beautiful, too, especially the wine-producing regions. Also, it's worth your time & effort to learn Czech, as you would need it in any other part of the country (than Prague). Besides, the Czechs will be very impressed if you can speak Czech to them. At any rate, enjoy!!! I envy you!
