If you observe an animal -dog for instance, you will see how it wiggles it tail meeting its caretaker, show less attention to it and it is very obvious it gets jealous, shout to it and it will "shrink" while it goes away to the extent that it will even refuse to eat, strange loud sounds makes scare most of the dog.
They are just few examples showing how an animal changes behavior which proves they are also emotional being, thus certainly they have moods. They have mood swings like humans do and have temper tantrums too.
Animals tend to change moods very quickly. That is the reason why extra care should be taken in dealing with them as their moods are unpredictable. Do you think the late "Superman" Christopher Reeve had his mishap if his horse was not in bad mood? How many caretakers of zoo animals got ill-fated because of unpredictable mood changes of the animals they looked after?
We can have better understanding of those animals nearly related to us especially of those mammals obviously because the way they behave got some similarities the way humans do. Other animals like of an insects, definitely have moods too yet not easily understood by humans.
Each creature had their own way of behaving. Whether it is within the capacity of our understanding or not, I am sure all animals have moods with difference in expression and extent.♥

I would say yes that they do have moods. I know my dogs do at least and so do my cats. They can be lazy or playful or total butt heads. Sometimes they will do stuff and other times no. When I am in a bad mood they usually sense it and will bug me until I forget why i was in a bad mood to Begin with.

Yes, but their moods will be far less complex than ours, and may as such I suppose not be called "moods" as such. Animals get hormonal when they are on heat and will behave differently, theire behavious will change when they are hungry, or tired, or scared. This is what Moods are in us, only we mystify them because our intelligence feels a need to find meaning. Moods are chemical imbalances in the brain, which are fixed occasionally by eating things, or resting, and occasionally by the brain itself. Recently, we have begun fixing these things by prescribing drugs, a destructive practice which leads to more severe "moods" next time.

Yes, they have mood swings like humans do, and this is more prevalent I feel in dogs because they are pack animals and the vibes from the leader affect how the rest of the pack behaves.
If we go away on holiday one of our dogs will always greet us on our return immediately and then will pointedly ignore us for about two days.

Hi, i think that animals do have moods. I think that the moods we portray are changed by the environment we are in and how we react to it.
I think that if you have the skill to produce and think of positive thoughts and feelings, i think that you could control and maybe block the negative feelings.

Going purely on analytical evidence, I would say some types of animals are very moody. Others seem like they don't get flustered very much.
But are you counting Panic and Parental Love as moods?

Yes. All mammals, marsupials and birds are very capable of a full range of emotion. Reptiles, amphibians and fish are to a lesser extent. Even insects are capable of a few basic emotions or moods such as anger and ecstasy.

I would say they have moods, but to a much more limited extent.
E.g. if their owner leaves them, they will feel sadness, but only because they know they won't get any play/food for a while. My cat certainly seems to know if I'm going away for the weekend and gets all huffy with me.

Yes, animals have moods and feelings just like humans do. They probably have different types of emotions and different tendencies towards certain types of emotions, but there is no doubt that animals are alive just like you and me and therefore have moods and feelings. Different animals have predispositions towards different emotions, ie: passive, agressive, carnivores, herbevores. Animals are only less inteligent and less developed in the extent and variety of emotions and feelings they can experience, but there is no doubt that they do have certain types of feelings, emotions, moods. There is no doubt, they are alive.

Anyone who has owned an animal will tell you that yes, they definately do have moods.
Dont forget that humans are only animals with extra intelligence. All the most basic aspects of being human and animal are the same.
