A high percentage of Americans are sleep deprived. Getting more sleep at night might help.
While at the library, choose an uncomfortable chair to work from. Chewing gum can help too. Do your reading earlier in the day when you are fresher.
Read in short segments, then take a quick walk around to get the blood flowing again.
