Ok, so i've started my own website, in which I sell ad space. I am in the military and my home state is Texas, but currently live in Nevada. What do i need to do so that I won't get caught up with legal issues. So far only thing i have done is register my domain name with yahoo. What else do I need to do?

There are no legal issues, apart from taxes, contact your local tax department to see if you need to pay taxes for both NV and TX.. we used to run a web business from NV AFB even though our home state was AL and we didnt need to pay to both just to NV because that was where we were running the business from.

Hello Steven,

I am not a lawyer (am a medical librarian).
However, one thing you might want to look into is copyright.
Last year I wanted to use an image from another library as an illustration on one of our web pages. In order not to violate copyright I emailed the other library and asked for permission.
It was granted on the condition that I included them as the source of the image on our web page.

We have this link at our library's web page...
Copyright Crash Course...
http://www.utsystem.edu/ogc/intellectualproperty/cprtindx.htm

There maybe other legal issues, but, again, I am not aware.
Hopefully experts in this area will add to my reply.

Wishing you the best with your web site,
Janice

I am confused about your "selling ad space". Anyway, there isnt much more to it except getting your own tax number and makin sure you pay your tax on the sites income.
