When I first log in, the messages scroll up okay for about a page, then they stop scrolling by for a minute or more, then a whole bunch of messages scroll by too fast to read until the window gets current, then it freezes again and the scenario repeats itself. Anyone know what is wrong and how to fix it?

What you are experiencing is commonly called as lag... However, others (mainly people who like to joke around) may call it "Lagzilla" when it gets really bad (when lag starts getting into minutes).

Lag is caused by one or more of the following:

1) Slow internet connection
2) Slow computer
3) High Ping Times (the time it takes for data to travel between 2 points online, usually measured in milliseconds)
4) Massive influx of data (a bunch of people posting messages at or near the same time)

The only things you can really do to help reduce lag is to use a broadband connection (avoid satellite connections, they have high ping times) & upgrade your computer... but that's not a guarantee to fix the problem. You can't really control the other users in the chat room, specially when there's a heated trivia game in progress.

To update an old saying: Lag Happens

The default placing is that the messenger will shop the finished communique yet will delete it as quickly as u signed out. (if u did exchange the recommendations to storing the messages even after u signed out.. then only view it in the information)
