What is the laws in Caribbean in reference to cannabis? Is it illegal to smoke, or posses and if so what are the penalties? Need help for my Law course!

There is no uniform legal system in the Caribbean. How could there be? Some derive their legal system from Roman Dutch Law and others from the British legal system and still others do things their own way. I can tell you that in the Cayman Islands, which is a British Overseas territory and where the laws are based on the law of England and Wales with a rich infusion of Kenyan law, it is illegal to possess or to smoke cannabis (or ganja) and that the penalty is usually a term of imprisonment. If there is a trace of a proscribed drug in the bloodstream, then this is sufficient for a conviction, on the grounds that if you have a trace, then you must have smoked during the past six weeks.

i know that in jamacia cannabis is illigal but 50% of the population smoke it so nothing is done about it
