All mammals that fall under the category of placentals, that is they have a placenta which is attatched to the fetus via the umbilical cord, have the umbilical cords. If you look closely, a lot of animals have what looks like a belly button.

As has already been mentioned, all placental mammals will be bornwith umbilical cords, as this is how nutrients/oxygen are transferred from the mother to the foetus in the womb. Egg-laying mammals do not.

Anything that developed inside a placenta had an umbilical cord - belly buttons probably get lost in all the fur though!

All animals that are born live have umbilical cords. Examples: all mammals and I have even witnessed young sharks with partial cords still attached.

I am sure that any mammal who gives birth to live young will have umbilical cords and the young will have belly buttons as such.

yes they do, mothers often chew through the cord and eat the placenta, the cord will wither and drop off fairly soon. Sometimes you can see it on newborn lambs in the fields. I don't know what the ramifications of not tying it off are as far as belly buttons are concerned.

All mammals do, but for some reason most do not have navels that are as obvious as humans' are. Every dog and cat I've had you have to look really hard - and not just because of the fur - to find evidence of it. I really don't know why we humans have such conspicuous navels.
