We have a concert coming up in Feb07 although we have a lot of solo's do sing and audition for, I though it might have been a laugh for me and 3 other blokes to perform the song (in true comical style) 'I Feel Pretty'... Does anyone know if this has been done before, and if so by whom?
It it hasn't, does anyone have any idea's for it?

Have fun with it. Wear short skirts and tank tops, get long wigs and wear make-up. HIGH heels! Practice in the high heels a bit, you don't want to be too wobbly on stage. If y'all are really hairy it will be really great! I hope you are all baritones or basses.

Yes, this song was sang in the classical musical "West Side Story" it's actually really funny performance, this play is done in colleges and high schools plays. I'd recommend watching the movie which you could easily find it at your local library, also I recommend watching "Superstar" with Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon both SNL alums.
Another song idea will be "Matchmaker" from Fiddler on the Roof

I'm pretty sure it hasn't been done before but what a fab idea. You should definitely DRAG up in Latino gear just like West Side Story. It will be so funny.

If you want to go for comedy, then play it completely straight! If you go all out for the camp side, then the audience will find it funny for that reason and that reason alone. If you do a truthful performance, then the audience will have more scope to find funny things in it!

Is this something you're putting on stage? I remember hearing about one theatre company in London who were doing similar type staging although I'm sorry, can't remember the name of the company... Best of luck

I tried to do it once as a laugh just to tease my boss... I got the first three words out of my mouth and the guy started screaming at me... "Stop it... Stop it... Don't you EVER sing that song in front of me you Effing Smartazz... Just shut the hell up"
I swear to god... sometimes gay people have absolutely no sense of humor whatsoever.
