it takes quite long to detect HIV/AIDS in the blood as far as u don't have any symptoms(such as some skin rashes, sores on the tongue, cough or even tuberclosise.t.c.) or u don't go for a lab. test. the time varies from 3 to even 15 years. it cannot be detected in a week except u go for a lab. test. in case u are scared u need not be u could just go for a lab. test and if you are positive u would be given some retoviral drugs to enable u live your normal life. you see there is no big deal about it. if negative you have to be careful. don't share unsterilized sharp ob jects like; razor, clippers, needles, injections e.t.c. don't also have unprotected sex. u could use condoms and even practice abstainance which is the best. Remember those living with HIV/AIDS are people like us.

Yes it can be detected right away.. However you will need to go in every 6 months for a year to be retested to make sure. A neg does not mean you wont develop it within that year.

AIDS is not the same as HIV, it can develop into AIDS if proper care is not taken.

If you have been exposed they will immediately put you on the HIV meds to help ward it off, this is often succsessful. that is why you must go in right away, do NOT wait any longer.

It will take from 6 weeks to 3 months to be able to detect

The tests don't detect the virus they detect the anti-bodies that your body makes to try to fight the virus - if you are really worried you should go talk to your doc and tell him the specifics - maybe some type of anti-biotic could help if given early?

It can take 3 months to detect but you need to go now to get tested and then go back again in 3 months.

Good luck. Hope it comes back negative although it isnt a life sentence anymore... my friend has had it since 1987 and is still going strong.
