Well actually the speed, doesn't depend entirely on the speed of the video card, for example you could have a VIDEO CARD GeFORCE NVIDIA with a speed of 128MB vs an INTEL GRAPHIC MEDIA of 256, and this last last one could work slower than the other...
Each generation of video card also makes a difference, that's why sometimes you see two NVIDIAs of 256MB and one is faster than the other, because it generation is different, maybe one of them has a better texture accelerator of something like that... I recommend you to get NVIDIAs and to check that is not an old generation one.

PD: faster/better card does gives you better graphics, only gives you faster response of the video game. You may consider receiving also better graphic because if in the OPTIONS or SETTING of the games you choose the higher resolution, quality and all the effects the game allows you...... you won't have the problem that your computer may turn slower during the gameplay.... But that will also depend on the game, cause some of them doesn't require as much speed in the video card as others.

As I understand it, the 256mb card will certainly help you with video editing. Such a card MIGHT give a small performance gain with the textures in gaming. I was surprised to learn there is only 3-4 fps gain between 4x AGP and 8x or 16x AGP. And now there is a lot of hype over pci Express (or pcie) which MIGHT have software available soon that will help edit HDTV video files.

if you like electronic jargon.

Be mindful that high-end graphic cards need more electrical power. I've formerly had $200+ cards and had to throw them away after less than 2 years service. They overheat too easy and fry.

But... the gamers out there all claim they get some kind of performance gain. Personally, I'd stick with the nVida chipset as the minimum requirement for compatibility issues.

Dear,

Difference is there.
A 256 MB graphics card can make you run your game faster and smoother with more graphical effects and stability. The increase in Graphics card can make the game run more faster with good lightening effects and sound.

There is a difference, it runs faster. It is still a bottom of the range graphics card but bigger is certainly better. It will run hotter than the 128 so make sure you got clean fans and heatsinks.

Mauricio is the only one who got it, just looking at the amount of memory is wrong. You have to look at clock speed, memory speed, memory interface, and pixel pipelines. The amount of memory basically comes in at about 5th on the importance list. (Those first four were not necessarily in order of importance).

it doesnt make your game more clear. it just makes your gameplay smoother since there is more memory available. files wont have to be swapped around as often.
