House is a physical structure that you live in.... "I live in a house"..." the workers built a house".
A home is where you live, but it does not necessarily have to be a house... "The jungle is my home"... "My home is in Miami".
Home is more of an emotional attachment to a location, where a house is just a building.

A home has a personality, it defines its owner. A house is nothing more than bricks put together to create rooms.

Your teacher want you to say something along the lines of 'they both mean the same thing, but the term 'home' carries connotations with it, whereas house simply refers to a building.'

house and home have the same meaning but what makes them different is the significant meaning
house = building e.g. i live in this house
home = love of family e.g. everywhere is my home, if you're with me.
