My first two births were with a normal OB and I had the mirror down both times. I didn't fully concentrate on the mirror being down as there were more important things to concentrate on. I thought it was nice to able to look up and see what I was doing-what I was accomplishing. It made me feel strong as a woman and as a new mommy. It's not for everyone-especially the squeamish but I'm glad I did it.

I think this is a wonderful idea, I was to scared when I had my daughter but after seeing my husbands face I have decided this time I want to see as this is my last baby and I think seeing the birth would be a differant experance and I would like to know what happens I have given birth twice so felt the pain but never seen the mericle as its happening. My first born was a water birth so it wasnt even an option. I think that if I was going to have more children I wouldnt want to see this time but as its my last opitunity i thought what the hell.

Yes, I watched the birth of all 3 of my kids in a mirror. It was the most amazing thing I ever saw. And congratulations on your new baby.

It was very good of you, that you didn't look in the mirror! Because at that moment you listened to your own feelings and that is always better, then listen to someone else's. Specially at such a special occasion. It was your birth-giving and yours alone!! Congratulations with your baby, it has a very wise mother!

They offered a mirror but I turned them down. There was no way I wanted to see that!

They didn't ask me, but yes I would be too scared. We caught the birth on tape and still almost 7 months down the line, I am still too scared to watch it!!!

they didn't ask me they did in the anti natel clasees to have a plan so I guess you could ask if you could have it on the plan but I say don't do it its bad enough the pain. It's like hearing someone vomit if you can't see it you are not to bad but once you see it you feel sick yourself I guess that would be the same as in birth the pains bad but once you see you vagina stretch to see a size of a water melon come out it would hurt more if you are looking. just my opinion you don't have to agree

O no i did not at all, but with my second child there was no mirror but i could not wait to see my baby and leaned over, needless to say it was a bit freaky but you will get over it. I think it was nice to see my baby being born, why don't you video tape it and watch it later?
good luck and best wishes to you and Little one
