UK - Tooth fairy comes to collect tooth from under child's pillow and leaves a coin in it's place.
In our house - Daddy takes a pair of pliers and wrenches out the tooth before the tooth fairy has chance to get it, then sells it on ebay for a fiver so that he can buy some smokes with it. Child gets some aspirin for the pain. Family tradition going back, o...err since the dawn of ebay.

In France, the tooth is hiden under the pillow and during the night the little mouse came to get it so that in the morning it is not there anymore but the mouse left a piece of candy. "La petite souris est passée par là !"

i went to live in italy at the age of 5, and that's when i started loosing my teeth...
evrytime you lose a tooth you put it under your pillow, and the little MOUSE will come and collect it. when i lived at my gran's house though(a mud house), we all put our teeth in holes in the house and to see that our teeth were replaced by money was the best surprise ever!!!

some people in the US tell them to put them under their pillow for the "tooth fairy", and then take the tooth while they are sleeping and leave money.
