YAR must have a different bible to the one I read because mine tells nothing of the sort. You asked a question that has everyone stumped and the ones who do pretend to know make themselves look more stupid than those who admit they dont.
The thing is though, this is one question that has nothing to do with religion because whether you are religious or not it is unanswerable. Unless you literally believe in infinity, time without end, you have to ask where it all started even if we were put on Earth by little green men from space, because where did they come from.
Even the big bang theory relies on either matter or anti matter having existed before the universe, so where did that come from?

Logically speaking, God could not have created the universe. If he did, the universe being his creation and he the creator must be separate entities - and if so, God can not have the attribute of omnipresence.
What at best can be logically acceptable is that God transformed himself into the universe. (he himself manifest into the universe).
But that too is flawed logically unless we assume it was without any purpose. The reason is that omnipotent i.e. all powerful can not have a purpose because otherwise that purpose would have power over him.
Then did he do it as an experiment - but that is not possible since he is omniscient - when he already knows all, there is no experiment.
So logically God could not have created or even become himself the universe.
So we can not understand this by logic. But we can certainly believe and if we believe, then who created God is no question at all, God only created God, that is God came into being of his own volition.

Think it this way; God is a supernatural power and not a creation of some kind. So it was never created it never started to exist and it will never cease to exist. In other words it has no beginning.A human mind has very little knowledge on this and impossible at times to understand ,that is why we only have to believe. This is what you have to do, believe that God exists and has been in existence since no human time.
Good luck, I used to think this way when I was 13 14, 15 years old, now many years later I understand our minds have an extent to which we can think, beyond which we think no more especially concerning abstract subjects like these. It takes thousands of years for a human mind to evolve. May be later the facts will be known if God so wishes.

The question of creating God does not arise.
This physical body of ours, composed of the four great elements, can neither expound the God nor listen to it… Then just what can expound God and listen to it? That thing which is in us, standing distinctly without any form, shining alone – this can expound the God and listen to it!
This thing called God or Consciousness has no fixed form; it penetrates all the ten directions. In the eye we call it sight; in the ear we call it hearing; in the nose it detects odours, in the mouth it speaks discourse; in the hand it grasps, in the feet it runs along. Basically it is a single bright essence, it divides itself into these six functions. And because this single Consciousness has no fixed form, it is everywhere in a state of emancipation.
The universe is nothing but an opening out or expansion of the Supreme.
The world of ever-changing appearances is only an expression of Consciousness. All that appears in any form whether as an object or subject or knowledge or means of knowledge or senses, all that exists in any way is only a manifestation of Consciousness in a limited way.
Yogaraja in Paramarthasara quotes: “Just as a variety of objects appears, within a mirror, even so the entire universe appears within Consciousness or the Self. Consciousness, however, owing to its power of Self-consciousness knows the world, not so the mirror its objects.”
Therefore, all manifestations rise like waves in the sea of Consciousness or God. Just as there is neither loss nor gain to the sea with the rise and disappearance of the waves, even so there is neither loss nor gain to the Consciousness or God because of the appearance and disappearance of the manifestations. Thus, manifestations appear and disappear but the underlying Consciousness or God is unchanging. Creation means manifesting outside what is within.

Universal Mind and its derivatives.
(the derivatives of Universal Mind are localized versions of it - like a hologram 'all of it is in every bit of it' - therefore localized minds like 'your mind' have the same attributes as Universal Mind).
It is called 'mind' because its Spirit~Nature is Silence and Motion.
Its Motion is self-evident as the vibrations (the universe) you see all around you and are you. The other face of this Oneness is Silence that is equally self-evident yet rarely seen because the mental noise/motions of 'trying' to be the Silence negates the 'apperception' of it.
In this light God did not create the UniVerse as the UniVerse is simply the Motion of Universal Mind.
And the localized version of Universal Mind (or you and other human beings - like a wave/waves in the ocean) created God as a means to explain 'what is' .
(in the same manner this explanation, the one that your are now reading, shows you 'what is'; its effect is that Silence is realized; when you fully understanding it your 'mind' is rendered silent; its motion ceases and Silence flowers - this confirms the complimentary faces of your being as Motion and Silence).
In other words both the UniVerse and God are mental creations; one is the Motion of Universal Mind; the other (God) is the Motion of localized versions of Universal Mind (the many generated human versions of 'god' also explains why there are so many Gods).
May You Be Richly Blessed,
James

man created god, he is a concept created in much the same way as time, as a form of control. I believe in god (i think everybody says at some point in their life "god please don't let this be happening" or something similar) i don't however believe in organised religion as it has caused more wars than drugs in fact most territorial wars are fought in the name of religion and when god and religion are combined that is when you end up with that control thing i was on about.
god=good religion=bad
everybody should just follow their own personal god and accept that we all have different beliefs as lets face it even if you ask two people following the same religion devoutly they will have different views on what god does for them
