My fingers are also quite fleshy so when I try to press on the frets, my fingers can't reach and the flesh also messes stuff up. I've only just started, so will this get better?

Hi There,

Is the guitar you have, comfortable to play?

There are various guitars available these days, and being comfortable while playing is essencial. Your finger tips will be soft and hurt to start without, but with time and playing they will become hard (calus), and you wont feel any soreness.

If your hands are too small for the guitar you currently have, you may want to try a smaller one. You can purchase a 3/4 size Stratocaster if you are into Electric guitar. Or you may want to try a 3/4 size Acoustic. If your hands are particulary small, you may want to try a younger person's guitar. Increasing your comfort will improve your playing.

I suppose we need a few details from you really. For instance, what type of guitar you have and how old you are.

Best of luck with your playing!! AND DONT GIVE UP!!! :o)

Try using a folk guitar instead, it's still a guitar but smaller width.

Look at a Malmsteen Video on youtube.com ,
maybe Blitzkrieg.
Then you notice how good you can play with such fingers
