I'm not Europain but was a military dependent there as a child and was stationed there and I'm not sure about Europeans in general but there is a definate dislike or mistrust in Germany concerning Turkish people. I met my G/F in Germany and she is Turkish. European woman probably don't like Turkish woman because they are so much more beautiful and exotic than European woman. Not sure what the European men have problems with. I'd guess its economics. Like the Mexicans coming into America and "taking" american jobs. But thats only a guess.

I don't think most Europeans hate the Turkish people.
Most Europeans probably don't know a lot about the Turks, and people tend to fear the unknown, so I think many Europeans actually fear Turks.
In terms of the Turkish application to join the EU, there are some concerns that have been communicated to the Turkish government.
Probably one large issue is human rights - Amnesty international has a good site on human rights issues in each country.
Another issue may the the genocide of the Armenians in the early 1900s, and the failure of the Turks to acknowledge this part of their history.

I don't think they do.
The question is only if more Turkish immigrants should be allowed into the EC and if Turkey itself should be allowed to become a member.
Turkey does have a few miles ground in Europe and based on that they want to join. Of course as the country is poor and has a large population a lot of people in Europe worry that this might be very expensive.
Politicians don't dare to say "sorry, we don't have the funds to take you in", so instead of that they start to whine about issues like Cyprus (who cares !), human rights and who knows what. It kind of sucks.

Because of the Armenian Genocide that forced mass evacuation and related deaths of hundreds of thousands or over a million Armenians, during the government of the Young Turks from 1915 to 1917 in the Ottoman Empire.

We shouldn't hate people as a race, we should hate people who have done wrong to us as an individual! Im Greek and have many Turkish friends, i dont hate them because what their great great great grandparents did, thats stupid. I dislike people who have wronged me.
If somebody dislikes you because of your culture then, their not worth it, dont worry about it its their problem not yours.
