I still get creditor calls from the person who had the phone number b4 me. I have told them several times that I do not know this person. This is not their phone number no longer. I have called my phone company, they said there is nothing they can do. I've even told the people that are calling to remove my number from their list. They still call, I just let my machine answer it. It says MY NAME on the machine, and they still leave a message for this person. Now, they talk about lawyers and junk. I'm tired of this, what can I do short of changing my phone number of 6 years?

next time ask them for an address, then write them a letter telling them the number is now owned by a different person
Tell them u are putting it in writting in case the whole issue becomes litigous
yes its a hassle but i bet it will stop them from calling again
they probably think u are the person they are chasing but pretending not to be
no, you shouldnt have to do it but it will make them stop

Actually if you've told them not to call and they call back, then I believe they are violating the law--look up your state statutes. And if that is the case, then share that with them and hopefully that'll shut them up!!

threaten them with harassment you have the proof to identify yourself as not being the person they are looking for and if they don't cease the communication with you then you will take legal action against them especially if you have to pay to access you messages
