Hello, A women after my own heart.
Do train as a midwife you need 5 GSCE's, which must include English and Maths. If however you are an "older" student, you can take an entrance exam. There are many colleges over the UK which teach midwifery. You will need to decide, if you are to become a nurse first, then a midwife, or train to be just a midwife. I myself wanted to train as just a midwife as it is what I want to do.
If you go to:
http://midwiferytoday.com/
http://studentmidwives.co.uk

Both sites have excellent info on becoming a midwife and the ability to chat to other wanabees and midwives,

Good luck to you, I really envy you. ( I am now in France so unable to do my training.)

I am sure in time you will become a great "Baby Catcher" and soon be notching up the deliveries. Bonne Courage as we say here.

For standard courses at this level you would go through UCAS. However, because this is medical you should contact the nursing equivelant (NMAS I think).

University of Northampton (Nene) caters for midwives.

Note: There are two courses: A two year diploma course and degree level. The diploma is shorter and attracts greater funds while studying. It is, however, harder to get onto.

Failing that, try your local hospital for advice.

you're able to do your situations a pair classes at a time in case you prefer. yet as quickly as you get into clinicals it is extremely difficult to try this section time. Volunteering at a wellbeing facility won't lead you to a school application, studying classes does that.

Go to nhs.co.uk and go onto careers and it will take you to the site explaining all about the courses and where they are run.

Good luck
