Go to one of the Major Memory (RAM) vendors, such as http://www.kingston.com or http://www.crucial.com and look up your make and model computer. Then buy the memory. The chips just slide in - they can only be installed one way (they are notched so you can't install them incorrectly - some force will be necessary, but they should go in relatively easy. Once you physically install them, there should be nothing else to do - the computer will see the RAM and so will Windows. Technically, you should increase the pagefile, but that's not absolutely necessary.

For info on PageFile settings, reference:
http://www.petri.co.il/pagefile_optimization.htm

Note: For AVERAGE use, you want a minimum of 512 MB for Windows XP. Vista will really want 1 GB (1024MB). More memory won't hurt anything but your wallet. Too little can slow you down.

There are 2 or more memory slot for one computer. The original memory module occupy one, so there are likely to more one or more empty slots. Pls realise that there are SDRAM, DDR SDRAM and DDR2 SDRAM. They are different in pin number, and slots at the bottom and on the sides so that they cannot be inserted wrongly.
See the description in the manuel of the motherboard. If it is not exist, then take the orginal ram out . Compare the shape with the pictures in wikipedia to make use which type of ram it is.

For laptop, apart from the above distinction, ram modules are called SODIMM. They are different from the desktop modules.

You buy memory. It looks like a printed circuit board oblong in shape. Your computer has sockets to slot the memory chip in. If it is a laptop then you can usually get in through a little door in the bottim og the computer. A desktop you open the case.

If you can't take the computer to the shop take the chip so you get the right size of chip and the right kind of RAM.

If you are replacing the old chip rather than adding to it and you currently have 256Mb, buy 512Mb, if you have 512 buy 1Gb and so on. Some computers have more than one slot so you can double up the existing chips but if not replace one chip with one double its size. Some shops will take smaller chips in part exchange, most wont.

First off you have to buy the memory which comes in various memory sizes so prices also vary. Depending on the computer brand name as to how the cover comes off as its installed inside in a slot it slides down into, then a clip on each side snaps to it to hold it in place. Make sure your computer is unpluged. Its realitively easy to install once u see what the memory card looks like. Installing the memory card yourself will save you probably $30.00 - $50.00 which is what computer shops charge for installing it. Prices for the card can vary from $50.00 an up depending on the amount of memory you buy. Good luck

Why? you are able to in simple terms drag and drop them onto the cardboard yet your digicam might or would possibly not understand them. in case you prefer to have the means to confirm them on your digicam you shouldn't delete them on your laptop. in case you maintain going such as you're you should purchase some new enjoying cards on the grounds which you will wreck the only you're utilising.

You need to purchase RAM, but I would recommend finding someone that knows how to install it and how to find out what kind of RAM your system needs... It is a fairly simple process if you know what youre doing... But if you install the RAM backwards or the wrong kind, you can really screw up your computer...
