I just cant seem to get a good nights sleep laying next to someone else, i feel uncomfortable all night long, and am still tired the next morning. I dont want to hurt his feelings tho, so I'm not sure what to do. But It seems like alot of people I know have the opposite problem....they have trouble sleeping if theyre NOT laying next to someone....

I don't mind as long as they are not touching me. I don't like someone up against me when I sleep.

I dunno... Just ask Micheal Jackson.. "why can't you share your bed?" ....... hahaha ... a serious answer below .......
If you are anxious sleeping next to someone, that usually means that you do not have a good connection to your partner. Or it means that you toss and turn all night because of your own sleep issues, (you should not toss and turn all night, it is a sign off poor sleep quality)
To improve sleep quality and be able to get sleep faster try the following tips.........
#1. Light. adjust your curtains/blinds to darken the room as dark as possible. (no Night lights!!)(no TV!!)
#2. Temperature. Everyone has their preferences, but between 65 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit is most conducive to good sleep.
#3. Noise. Again everyone has their preferences, either total silence or maybe a droning sound, like a fan. (try earplugs?)
#4. Alarm clock. This is a common problem. NO CLOCK WATCHING!! It adds extra time before you fall asleep, therefore you ultimately will get less sleep.
#5. Maintain a set routine of sleep, so your body clock can work better and be more predictable.
#6. Never go to bed angry. always resolve issues, if possible, before you head to bed.
#7. Diet. Watch what you eat and drink before bed. Do not eat sugary foods or drinks and avoid caffiene.
#8. Exercise. This is different for everyone. Some people get tired after exercise and it helps them sleep faster. While others get "worked up" after exercise and have a tough time falling asleep. Do either one that works for you.
#9. If your mind races and you can't stop, consider having a journal with a pen near your bed to write down your thoughts and worries, then tell yourself to "think" about it tommorow.
#10. The last resort= Sleeping aids
It might seem like i went off topic, but if you can sleep better by yourself you can sleep better with a partner you are truly comfortable with.

I always have problems sleeping next to someone first up. Takes me a couple of months to get used to it. I can't sleep in places I don't know either - such as hotel rooms or friends places for the first night. I am a fussy sleeper. If you are the same as me, it is because you are on guard. You can't relax with that person or in that place just yet. Don't worry about it, it is normal and when you start to feel more at ease with him, you will be able to sleep.

Don't believe the hype. I'm the same way. Something about sleeping in bed with someone else makes me anxious and I can never get to sleep. I don't know, maybe it has something to do with the people I sleep next to.

I have the same problem... It takes time for me to get used to sleeping next to someone or even in the same room as someone... I can suggest taking a dose of tylenol PM or melatonin as a sleep aid to halp you feel less nervous.

You could probably have a conversation with your roommate just to ease up your feeling of uncomfortable. Maybe this way you would be getting along with them and you will feel "safe", and sound asleep too. You dont know maybe next time you wanted them to be around with you always.

I am a big fan of sleeping alone. I often feel the same way. I feel smothered or something sleeping next to someone.

I thought I was one of the only ones too! I can't sleep well at all lying next to someone, every movement they make wakes me up and I worry I will wake them up. Very uncomfortable!
