A doctor explained these differences to me upon my enquiry:
1/ If it is a virus /viral infection the mucus will be white. Symptoms can be exactly the same as other bacterial infections.
2/ If it is Bacterial Infection, the mucus will be green/yellow. The symptoms of temperature, fever, sore throat headache and/or other symptoms depending on what the infection is, will develop sometimes into bacterial after starting out without any indications of bacterial infection.
As with all disease and/or illness, it always pays to keep hygiene in at such times. Plus also keeping people who are ill isolated for the sake of other people as well.
Hope this helps you, and hope you feel better soon. Even with modern antibiotics some of these viruses simply run their course anyway.

Viruses can affect any system of body and the symptom depends on the system involved.
I assume you are concerned about common viral fevers .
High grade fever, headache, bodyache, nausea, vomitting, running nose, sore throat etc are few prominent symptoms.
Yes it is contagious.

The symptoms wold vary enormously according to the type of virus (there are millions of the little blighters out there! lol). Generally there will a high temperature but other than that its impossible to say.
Contagious, usually yes, but not always by the same means. Some are spread by close physical contact, other by sneezing and coughing...again it varies according to the virus.

lethargy, fever, worn out, tirdness, sore throat, headache - people oftne take antibiotics for such and infection when really a virus will not be helped by antibiotics. Yes it is infectious - viruses are tine. Verucca on feet are viruses -they are many and varied types. Take rest and plently of fluids and paracetamol may help, no more than 8 tablets in 24 hours for an adult. There are antiseptic mouthwashes that will help sore throats if you gargle them, gargele with soluble asprin also helps.

Depends on the virus. Colds or Flu viruses cause the classic aching & snivelling symptoms fairly immediately whereas others like Hepatitis C can hang around for years with no symptoms at all - until you wake up 30 years later and it's eaten your liver!
