No bumping??
I like the idea of opening up the game but I think restraining players to some extent is needed. If ya want end to end free for all then do away with all the rules.I don't think the goalie should be trapped in his crease either, although if hes out it should be open season on his head.lol

I can tolerate the crack down on clutching and grabbing, but the it is getting out of control, this is not the game I grew up with. As I said in answer to another question, two nights ago I watched someone get a penalty for lifting the puck carriers stick and stealing the puck. That is a beautiful play not a penalty. As for the need for increased scoring, that is BS dished out by the league to try and bring in new viewers when only a year after a season that never happened they should first try and re establish the fan base they had. I would like to hear more long time hockey fans opinions on this. The goalie rules are ridiculous, let the players police themselves. It worked for years. Some of the most memorable games I have watched have been 1-0 overtime wins, the answer is not to increase scoring but to increase knowledge, if more people realize the beauty of a well execute hip check or a great defensive play like the aforementioned lifting of the stick then the viewership will increase. When the league realizes they need to stop pandering to a media that only wants to glorify violence in any form under the guise of criticizing the NHL and start trying to lure back the true hockey fans then the game we love will return to its former glory.

I think that the clutching and grabbing should be out, but the goalies should have more freedom outside the crease. They are players like anyone else on the ice and should be able to hit and take hits like any other player. What's next? Maybe a ban on fighting, or at least a new rule that allows play to continue even when 2 or more players are "duking it out". A lot more goals will be scored (good for the HOCKEY fans), and the fights will be allowed to continue (good for the FIGHT fans).

I like the no clutching and grabbing rule. I think it is right to protect the net minder. The new rules are in place to cause more scoring and it seems to be working. I would like to see the instigation rule disappear.

i don't agree with any of the points you make. eventually the players will adapt to the new game where if you can't skate with the big boys, you don't play with the big boys. hockey should be about speed and grace, not some dummy who has to grab to slow things down to his speed. as for the goalies, you run mine and i'll run yours and so on...there's only so many to go around.
