AIDS IS a gay disease..(also bisexual men pass it to women) i know that they say it is because the anal is more porus that it allows the disease to pass through BUT why is that? why hasnt the virus been able to evolve smaller so it can fit in through a womans vagina? is it expected too? what makes the virus..please dont post any stupid comments..if you do the research yes what i am saying is true.

I think you've been misreading or have been given poorly researched papers to study. According to the CDC, the fastest growing HIV population in America at the momen is straight African American women, followed by Hispanic men and women.

It is though a gay disease in the sense that it affects a large number of gay men; and also because younger gay men are indulging increasingly in high risk activity (anal sex without condoms). They believe it is a controllable disease now, but they misunderstand the usefullness of current therapies.

There is also the bizarre phenomenon now of "Gift Parties", where gay men deliberately have unprotected sex with HIV+ men in hopes of getting the virus. Again, they mistakenly believe that HIV is not the cause of AIDS, or that it is controllable if they catch it. These are real problems affecting the gay community, and are being addressed by a number of gay health non-profits.

While the first cases of HIV in the early 80's were primarily gay and bisexual men, that is not the case now. HIV today is rapidly growing among heterosexuals in Asian and African countries do to the ignorance of their government to admit to the problem and address it.

In the late 80's the father of a close friend died very rapidly of AIDS, after contracting HIV from a female prostitute. Treatment was delayed because at the time no one believed that heterosexual men could get it this way.

Ignorance is responsible for the growth of this disease, and a government who spends more time pandering to the pharmacology and insurance companies. Who is it that has become wealthy off the back of the sick and the dying? Could that be why no cure has been found? The largest growing HIV+ population in the US is black women. Someone convince me that the present administration gives a rats *** about black women except where they can be used and exploited like Condi Rice.

AIDS is not a gay disease....where have you been for the past 20 years? It is a human disease that started spreading in the US by blood transfusions. Many straight people have contracted AIDS not just gays.Even if a gay person brought it into the country back in the 80's it is not specifically a gay disease.

Third, not that you care, but AIDS was originally known as the Slimming Disease and has been recorded in Zaire and Congo as far back as the 1800's.

Faisal , I am gay and I don't have AIDS.. There are many Gay people who have been gay for over 30+ years and don't have aids.

Aids is a horrible disease that that is caught by straight and gay people. Some people could have been raped and caught it from their rapist.

There are straight people who have aids. SO I guess you may want to stop being around all straight people too...

You need to do some research on the subject and not let hatred and ignorance influence your opinion on AIDS.

it's not a gay disease. the highest growing number of aids infections is amongst heterosexual women. specifically, an african american woman is 19 times more likely to get infected than a white woman, and aids is one of the there main causes of death for african american men ages 30-45 (or so).
aids is not a women's disease, it's not an african american disease, it's not a drug users' disease, it's not a poor man's disease - no one is immune to it and we can all get infected just the same. any form of unprotected sex (anal, vaginal and oral) with someone who is HIV positive, or someone you don't know, or someone you haven't asked, because it would ruin the mood or embarrass you - it can get you sick; sharing needles; cheating; promiscuity; drug-induced sex-a-thons - these are the things that get you sick. being gay doesn't. being a woman doesn't. being black doesn't.
