You can not sell firearms on E-Bay. If you are in the States, find a dealer in your area. Ask him for an appraisal, but don't mention you are thinking about selling it. When you get the value, go to a different dealer and sell. Or you could find an on-line auction ( I would suggest Gunbroker.com) and sell it.
You could have gotten a better idea had you posted what the mfg is, what cal. These are things you're going to want to know.

You can't sell it on ebay, everyone so far is being a bit silly regarding the law. I had the police round my house the other day to interview me and I had two WWII Enfield rifles in the corner of the living room, they weren't bothered by them in the slightest, but did show an interest in the history of them. Yes, it is illegal if the pistol hasn't been decomissioned, but I doubt you have any bad intentions. First thing is to make sure that it is definitely inactive, take it to a gunsmith for a check. Don't carry it in your pocket, keep it in a locked case. There are plenty of militaria collectors about although I doubt any will give you a FAIR price. It might be better to auction it.
Oh and don't go selling it to anyone that enquires on this site. There's all sorts on here. Just look at Aarshi72's questions to see why!

If you are in the UK, be careful, it is illegal to carry a firearm, no matter how old it is, it probably will owrk if it's in Mint condition, Guns are mechanical & thus will work until the parts are worn out through use, or lack of cleaning.
Check on the internet for Antique firearms dealers for a place to sell it, but DO NOT carry it around the streets in anything other than a locked box, to take to the dealers.
5 year prison sentence for carrying a gun.

if you are in the UK, and the gun is capable of being fired (IE hasn't been permanently diabled) then you are breaking the law by owning an illegal firearm. if you are in the US, you are probably breaking the law by not wanting to own a firearm - this dangerous mind set must be stopped immediately... scoot down to the nearest NRA range and start blasting away untill you reaquaint yourself with the 'Mericun way
even placing on EBAY could open you to criminal prosecution. Id be surprised if EBAY let you list the item, althoiughh my experience of EBAY is they really dont give a monkeys providing you generate some fees for them.
the 'correct' thing to do would be to hand it over to the police, or better yet, phone 'em up telling thme your tale and let them deal with the matter. That way round you are unlikely to be arrested (as you are handing in illegal property recently accquired form your grandfather, if you get stopped you are not carrying firearms)

My first thought is that you should not sell it!! You may regret it later. There are some things that have more sentimental value then being usefull. You may want to reconsider and hold on to it, but if you are determined I would try a local antique store. As far as value and what to sell it for you could do a search with the type of weapon it is and go from there, probably an antique gun seller.

Don't Even Try It! ... You may think it doesn't work but some guy or woman behind a counter would think otherwise if it was pointed at their head!
The gun as it stands is Illiegal as you don't have a firearms license. Take it to the police station first to have them look over it and if need be it would have to be sent to the London or Birmingham Proof house to have it de-commissioned safe. You will then be able to sell it on as an antique.
By the way if you take it to the police station let them unwrap it ,if you do it at the desk you could cause a security alert!

eBay absolutely will NOT allow a firearms transaction. If you are in the USA, there are websites that do deal in firearms and within most of the southern and western United States you can sell the firearm as a private sale. I'd search online a while and see what the posted prices are.

You could try eBay but I'm not sure about the legal stuff on selling real guns on there.
Another alternative would be to try an auction house.

if it will fire and by your description sounds like it will and it is not registered you might could get some good bucks for it from the right person. I myself would like such a pistol, but have no idea where to get one.
