You can download or buy programs that can reset your computer to an earlier time...you can go back minutes, days, weeks, even months earlier. We once had GoBack program...I liked it alot, since I'm not so great at computers (what I know I had to learn from experience).

Although other answerers have told you what to do, they didn't really tell you how.
My guess is that you accidentally dragged one folder inside of another without realizing it.
First, double click the Recyle bin on your desktop to see if the pictures are there. If so, you can highlight them by clicking them with your mouse while holding the shift key, then choose "Restore" from the Recycle bin menu, and they'll be returned to their original location.
To search for the pictures, Click the Start Button and choose Search
If your pictures are from a digital camera and you don't really remember their file names, then in the box that says "Search for Files or Folders Named:" simply type an asterisk * which means any file name.
Under Search Options, put a check mark on Type, then from the dropdown list, choose "Jpeg image"
Start your search. The current location of your pictures will appear in the "In Folder" column. If you can't see the full path, you can widen the column with your mouse.
If that doesen't work, you can right click My Computer, choose Properties, and then choose System Restore, but that really shouldn't be necessary, so try the search first.

OK, try this steps:
1) try to find them in your trash, if not then
2) do some search, if again nothing
3) just don't write any files or try to move any file. Shat down your PC and ask for the expert to recover your files.
You see in some cases when you permanently delete your files they are still there, only a file containing the list of your files has been deleted. In principle you can not see them, but computer experts can recover them.
I hope you can find your files after the first 2 steps if not, don't panic it's quite common problem.

Yes if you backed them up.
Try the SEARCH tool that is built into your operating system, you may have moved the folders accidentally to another location on your PC.
Also check your recycle bin to see if you can restore them from any files or folders that you may have deleted.
As a last resort try an 'undelete' utility.
This one is free:

Good luck

Do a search for "my documents" without the quotes by clicking run, search, files and folders. Once you find the folder, right click and copy. Next, right click on your desktop and paste.

lesson 1. always make a back up
lesson 2 don't mess with things unless you know what you are doing!
tough one, try Disk Investigator (it's free) and go to directories and search through the all the deleted files (in red) and try to open them from there, some may still be readable.
