There are certain computer systems which use more than 1 processor.
In every desktop pc there is only one processor.
So the Question is can I attach more than 1 processor to a single PC and acquire the power of two processors simultaneously
(eg. one p4 3.2 ghz chip and another p4 3.0 ghz chip)

If you're asking this question, YOU will not do it.

The only way to do this is to create a linux cluster - then you can use the power of two computers as one.

Otherwise, your computer would have to have a socket for a second CPU - and they didn't make ANY Pentium 4 systems dual CPU capable - only Pentium 4 XEONs - and you almost certainly don't have a xeon - they were only sold in servers.

You could replace your mainboard with a different one (assuming your case isn't proprietary, like most Dells, HPs, Gateways, Lenovo/IBMs, (Brand Names), etc. And if you did replace the mainboard, you'd have to get a Dual Core CPU which is essentially a second processor in the same chip. Or get a server board that supports multiple XEON processors.

Basically, if there was a realistic chance of you doing this without buying a new computer, you wouldn't be asking this question - you'd know how to do it.

there many motherboard are available in the market that are enable to use 2 processors. In simple motherboard you can't use 2 processor. A new technology had come that is known as dual core. these type processor have 2 core in single die. this can give you performance of double in single processor. today in markets intel's dual core processor are available & it requires newer motherboard.
you can attach 2 processor in a single pc but you should have buy first new motherboard which have 2 slots for processor.

Not in a normal PC. In servers, there can be more than 1 CPU. Also uou can buy dual core CPU, which has 2 processor in a package. For intel, it is pentium D and Core 2 duo. AMD also has dual core CPU but I am not too familiar, You need to check the motherboard whether it is competible to dual core CPUs.

Intel's Dual-Core technologies is the only thing I'm aware of and that takes a special motherboard, along with a bigger power supply, to accept the Intel cpu. I do remember NT having configuration setups for special motherboards with 2 cpu, to run 3D video processes, but I also remember those setups developed crashes and were eventually abandoned.

You could buy a dual core processor, if your motherboard supports it, or you could buy a PCI Expansion card that allows you to add another processor and in some cases even more ram.
