Why should he live his life your way?

Get yourself some training so that you make less mistakes in your job and congratulate your boss for moving forward in their career.

Oh no - he's probably tired of carrying you and is too nice to say that he'd like to move on and get a new challenge - try to learn from your mistakes - we all make them, it;s not a problem - and who knows, your new manager may be OK too :)
