I tend to favor songs that are a bit sad because they tend to be slower, and every word is easier to understand and recall. It makes for an easier time of keeping up and memorizing.
Most of the time, the lyrics don't mean anything to me until I am able to remember them without the music. I would not use music to say what I am thinking as much as I would not read a book to plan my life around. If he were a fan of horror films or murder mysteries, would you be just as suspicious of his intentions?
If on the other hand, some particular lyric happens to ring a bit too true, it sounds like a perfect moment for a conversation about your feelings. If you talk to him about it, maybe he can help you through it.
Good luck.

I would say it depends on my mood.
When im at top of the world, id listen to songs about falling in love, friendships, family.. generally upbeat songs..
But when im feeling depressed or really frustrated with life, id skip my mp3 to really sad songs about breakups or betrayal... the lyrics need not describe what im going thru but sometimes, i juz want to pretend that im somebody else and cry to my hearts content. And most of the time, i felt better after that! (coz id think there're pple out there who are going thru worst than i am so whatever im going thru now is no biggie! optimistic? yeah! hee..)
I dont think ur boyfriend is deserting you, perharps he just want to escape from his life for a while.. dont read too much into it and strain the relationship. u know, maybe u could introduce the music ur into or attend concerts together and appoint some songs as "your song".. he's sure to think of u everytime he hear the song!
good luck!! =)

I do both, some that mean something, and some that don't....just to throw off my boyfriend so he doesn't know the difference. Because yes, some songs strike a nerve about old memories and relationships, but it doesn't mean that I want to rekindle anything. And your paranoia is exactlly why I try to throw him off.
Think about it like this, not all of our memories have to be bad or break ups, it could be good memories of a first love or child hood stuff. In a relationship, there are some things that are sacred to ones self and our significant others don't always have to be the center of attention.

I sing along to most songs I like, some of the sad ones remind me of an unrequited love in my past, so your b/f could be thinking of his ex a little. Not all of them do though, I just like the songs.
Thing is, you are being paranoid, I think. If he truly regretted not being with his ex, he'd be trying to get back with her rather than being with you. Be happy in the knowledge that You've got him, not his ex.
Listening to music is a great way to release emotion. especially if you sing. I feel much better after singing along to a sad or angry song (I'm a metalhead). When I'm upbeat, I like to listen to proud or happy songs.

Thgese songwriters doing these lyrics know we will keep buying their music and albums etc. I usually sing along to anything (even Bing Crosby and I have no feelings what so ever for any of his songs).

Yes, I do, and yes we do....
Some people like those type of song, just like me.. because it reminds me of someone, something that happened before..Even if its over, even if we're through I'm still singing the song. You can't just throw away the memories and the feelings. But it doesn't mean that the past means more.... Me and my past had this song, definitely me and my present has a song too...
And also some people listen to that song,a nd again just like me, I like the lyrics, or I like the sound, It makes me more relax, It touches my heart.. just like as others story touches ur life... though they mean nothing to you.. though you were not involve...
I hope you can get me...
So dont you worry sweety. just let Him listen to what He like...

I sing along to loads of songs, and generally I like miserable music of most genres. I prefer songs about realy bad stuff happening, messed up relationships, drug addiction, booze, poverty, bad treatment, prison etc. Has no bearing on my gerneral feelings, I'm a happy man in a secure relationship - I just like miserable music, and I like to sing along to it.
I don't really like many uplifting songs, I find them trite and irritating, miserable music makes me happy!.
And yes you are being paranoid and your boyfriend needs to stop listening to anistasia, not because she is 'angry' but because she is sh¡t.

don't worry everybody sings and you will probably find that 90% of songs that people sing are slow love/heartbreak songs.
i mean it would be strange if you fella was singing rap or house not to mention annoying !lol if you can listen to john lennons "when your crippled inside" the music sounds like a /jolly uplifting song but the lyrics are dark and melancoly and i sing it all the time because of its jolly tune.
so dont worry and please note people sing mostly when they're happy so prehaps your making him happy ;-)

I sing to songs that means something to me like going under by evanescence as i feel like no one listens; complicated by avirl lavigne as one of my friends fits it's lyrics; ans last but not least call me when you're sober by evanescence I love the piano tune and the lyrics. so he could be telling the truth but how you tell is: is there emotion is his voice and if there is then you've answered you own question! as for him not wanting you, only he can answer that! tell him that's how you feel, be open with him for a moment and see how he responds.
